Success at BBL Solos and Quartets 2003


Congratulations must go to the band's quintet for their performance at the BBL Solo and Quartets Contest on the 15 of February. The quintet consisting of Jacklin Brittain, Neil Smith, Johnny Carroll, Johnny Sproule and Jonathan Gawn achieved 1st place in the large ensembles section under the musical direction of the bands assistant conductor Alan Hunter. They played 'Gilliard Battaglia' from the Battle Suite by Samuel Scheidt and the 6th movement from Twelve Little Pieces for Brass Quintet by Ludvig Maurer. Well done to everyone invloved!

BBL Spring Contest 2002 Results


On their last contest on Saturday 13 April the band achieved 3rd place in the Senior Section of the BBL Spring Festival playing English Heritage by George Lloyd.

The band put in a excellent perfomance and many experienced members of the audience felt the band were hard done by. Principle EEb Bass player Jonathan Gawn was awarded the Harry Gault Memorial Cup which is awarded to the best instrumentalist in the senior section on the day.
